• 5.0 out of 5 stars from Amy's Bookshelf Reviews -- What a way to get the "Inside" track! : Bill Kimberlin, Psy.D, writes about "life" behind the walls of death row in WATCH ME DIE: Last Words From Death Row. I haven't read work from this author before, and this book really intrigued me. Kimberlin not only talked to the death row inmates, in Ohio, but sat down to eat with them, interviewed them, and even were some of the inmates last person to talk with the inmate before their death. It's not just about the inmates, themselves, but about the truths of being on death row, and knowing imminent fate, not just death, but when, where and how. This book was written very well. This is an updated version of the first book, and this one gives more details as to which inmates are still awaiting their fate, and even some of them, have asked Kimberlin to be there when they die. It was detailed and terrifying, at the same time, it was intriguing to get to know these men who committed horrific crimes that put them on death row in the first place. When all hope (or appeals) are lost, they count the days, some with regret, and some with no affect. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2021 )

Bill Kimberlin deep dives into a “behind the scene” look at everything right up until the final moment of the execution of those that are sentenced to death. The book is thoughtfully written in an unbiased and professional manner. Especially interesting are the candid conversations he has with the prisoners. Dr. Kimberlin takes you inside the death chamber and makes the reader feel like they are right there along side him. The revised edition includes a “where are they now” chapter and he also talks about how his research has affected him and his family with great candor. Read Watch Me Die Last Words from Death Row in one sitting -binge reading at its best! Captivating and unable to put down! The criminal mind has always intrigued me. Bill was able to go deeper than anyone one has with interviews with death row inmates as well as receiving their art work to witnessing executions. Excellent book! We had talked about it coming out for so long and now the day has come. I was glued to it the whole time. I never set it down. It’s so interesting and he’s such an awesome person inside and out. Death Row is something a lot of people don’t understand. After reading this you’ll understand just a little bit more of how things really are. Bill is a talented man!
